This print was designed to capture our love and appreciation for Hawaii and is inspired by the Hawaiian quilt. Hawaiian quilts hold symbolic, cultural, and spiritual meaning. The implementation of creativity, culture, and native Hawaiian spirit created in Hawaiian quilts symbolize an attachment and love for the islands shared by people throughout the world.
Our love for Hawaii and its culture began in our childhood. Growing up, we spent our summers on Big Island with our dad. The Big Island and its community were instrumental in allowing our father to establish restaurants in Kona beginning in 1979. Our mother lived in Lahaina for several years where she taught at King Kamehameha III Elementary School. In our teens, we spent our summers working on Big Island and Maui. After Ali graduated college she moved to Oahu, where she was inspired to start XIX Palms. When you purchase this specific print, we hope you share in the spirit of aloha that is deeply rooted in our souls.
